Welcome to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania's

Walkway of Caring

at the

Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence

Families who use the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence often remark about the beauty and serenity of the location and the fact that it offers them a sense of peace.  They enjoy the woods, flowers and shrubs that surround the house and the wildlife that these features attract.  When their loved one dies, families often want to memorialize that person in a way that also honors the place where he or she spent the last days of life.

Having heard this from many people, Hospice of Central PA decided to build a Walkway of Caring on the grounds of the Residence .  This walkway is an opportunity to further enhance the beauty of the property and to satisfy the desire of family and friends to commemorate the life of someone important to them.  It is also a means to raise funds for an endowed Community Caring Fund. The proceeds of the Fund will be held and invested to provide a perpetual flow of resources to help underwrite the unreimbursed costs of patients who need the services of the Hospice Residence.

Ground was broken in 2006, and the Walkway includes six distinct features, each of which has its own unique beauty, along with an array of attractive trees, shrubs and flowers.  Each of the three plazas will have bricks which may bear an inscription to memorialize or honor someone.  Donors may reserve a 6" x 6" brick for $150 or a 6" x 9" brick for $250. Bricks may have up to 5 lines for an inscription. Please see the attached form for more details on how to order and inscribe bricks.

Each year as more bricks are added to the Walkway, we will host a dedication ceremony and invite donors who have ordered bricks in memory or honor of a loved one during that year.

If you are interested in naming the Walkway or one of its major features, please contact Deb Fulham-Winston at the hospice office (Ph: 717 732-1000, e-mail: donations@hospiceofcentralpa.org)
